Whatcom County consists of 2126 square miles and is located in the northwest corner of Washington State overlooking Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands. The largest city and county seat is Bellingham. The other major towns are Ferndale, Lynden, and Blaine. Elevation ranges from sea level to a height of 10.778 at Mt. Baker. The eastern portion consists of the Mt. Baker Wilderness area and a portion of the North Cascades National Park. This section is mainly rugged mountainous areas. The Mt.
